Broadcast (Radio, Television, Satellite, Cable)
Part VA Statutory Licence, Copyright Act, 1968
Schools can copy anything from television or radio, provided the copy is made for the schools educational purposes only. Schools can also communicate a copy they make, provided the communication is for the schools educational purposes.

- Can be retained indefinitely
- Copies cannot be lent to anyone who is not a student or teacher at the school.
- Copies cannot be sold for profit

- Of copies made under Part VA only
- Covers broadcast and cable transmission
- Allows for:
- video reticulation of copies,
- emailing of copies,
- satellite transmission etc, - and otherwise making copies available online (subject to ensuring, as far as practicable, that access is restricted to staff and students).

Television and radio only
The provisions allow for copying from television and radio, and communication of copies made from television and radio only. This includes free to air and pay television. The provisions do not apply to copying or communicating bought or hired video cassettes or DVDs.
Educational purposes only
Any use, whether copying or communication of a copy, must be for the educational purposes of the school only. This includes using the material in connection with a course of instruction or keeping it in a library collection.
Labelling
All analogue copies must be labelled with the following information:
- Made for
(insert name of school)
- Under Part VA Copyright Act 1968;
- Date program was broadcast
(insert date),
- Date copy was made
(insert date if different).
Each electronic or digital copy communicated under Part VA must also contain an electronic notice in the form of the notice in the Copyright Regulations.
