This checklist can help you attribute any source material from other peoples work you have used in doing your assignment. Its purpose is to reinforce the legal responsibilities you have to reference source material you use. The checklist is not intended as an exercise in comparing or learning about the many different conventions associated with referencing materials. To use this assignment checklist you need to:
- Have a basic understanding of copyright. If you dont , then read Copyright basics.
- Have at hand your assignment and any source material you have used in it.
Your teachers have no doubt already told you how important it is to reference the sources you use in doing school assignments. This referencing can happen in a number of ways according to:
- What type of source material it is.
- How you have used it.
- How formal your assignment needs to be.
Using the checklist
To check the referencing of your source material, work your way through the following questions and checkboxes.
If anything is not clear, you can search the glossary, go to the Student area on this website, or ask a teacher or librarian for some advice.
